When waste is not managed properly it
creates adverse environmental, economic,
and social repercussions. From climate
change to marine plastics, the harmful
impacts of poor waste management affect
everyone. Recognizing the severity of issue
and the opportunity for the Food &
Beverage industry to become part of the
solution, Sarirasa Group began exploring
ways to reduce our waste.
The Tanahmula concept was created in
2019 to cook up ways to enhance
sustainability practices across all of our
70+ restaurants. Guided by Tanahmula,
which embodies the model of returning
materials to earth, we are continuously
refining our business practices to become
more sustainable. Reducing, reusing, and
recycling has become key ingredients in
Sarirasa Groups recipe for improving
resource management.
The journey towards zero waste to landfill is a long one but we are committed to taking
steps forward every day. Beginning as a waste management improvement project,
Tanahmula has now evolved into a circular resource initiative. Through the adoption of
practical circular business processes, Tanahmula has been able to conserve resources, cut
cost and create jobs while diverting the majority of our waste from landfill. When it comes
to circular resource management, we believe that there is no such thing as having too many
chefs in the kitchen. As we continue on our journey, we hope to collaborate with and inspire
others in the Food and Beverage industry to brew up more circular solutions.
